Plus Keith’s Art Exhibition on 20th

Hi Jazz Buffs. Over the last two weeks at the Farnborough Jazz Club, we’ve presented two great bands, very different in style, but both very exciting.
On Friday, 4th September, New Orleans Heat brought their wonderful earthy style of traditional jazz, led by Welshman, Glyn Lewis on cornet, who, as a great follower of Wild Bill Davison, emanates his raunchy sound very well. A large audience thoroughly enjoyed a great evening’s entertainment.
Last week, Friday 11th September, we enjoyed a completely different sound from Sarah Spencer’s Transatlantic Jazz Band. A really hot swinging combo, being pushed along by Sarah’s rocking tenor sax. She sang some great blues numbers too and presented the band with true American-style professionalism, a band we all thoroughly enjoyed and would love to hear again. Sarah last played for us about 18years ago, when we held jazz at Badgers Mount Hotel, although she did not remember the occasion. Soon after, she moved to the US and what a wonderful transformation growing up there has done. Many thanks for your magic, Sarah.
This coming Friday and Sunday, we have a weekend of Jazz and Art in Farnborough Village:
Friday, 18th September, at the club, Vintage Jazz bring the style of music that everyone loves to dance to, and;
Sunday, 20th September, Keith, who as fellow promoter with his other (better) half, Diane, will be putting on a Battle of Britain Anniversary Art Exhibition, to be held at the Change of Horses in Farnborough Village, from 12noon. Keith is a local artist, who studied at Beckenham School of Art, and joined the top London studio, Carlton Artists. He now paints in watercolours and covers a multitude of subjects, landscapes, seascapes, boats, cars, aeroplanes and jazz studies.
This weekend of course, is the anniversary of the Battle of Britain, so Keith will be exhibiting many Spitfire and Hurricane paintings.
So come and enjoy some jazz and Art in Farnborough this weekend with us.
